People often worry about putting on a little weight over Christmas, just usually it’s not in their panniers.
When your life is dominated by the weight of your possessions, the tradition of gift giving on Christmas day has the potential to be fraught with difficulty. Because of that we made a firm commitment definitely not to give each other gifts this year. Which we then both ignored.
Physics, and the application of, has never been my strong point. In fact we gratefully parted company in my early teens after I set fire to the school lab during an experiment and I’ve been happily oblivious since.

My promise to myself in 2020 was to bring the blog up to date with past adventures before revealing the exciting new ones planned for this year. A little while ago now (OK, 9 months but who’s counting) I started writing about the first part of our 2018 Chilean adventure by bike. Part one was the spectacular experience mountain biking in the Atacama Desert and a prelude to the main part of our trip, the plan to go cycle touring in the Patagonian South of the country.
